fabindiaA Goa court on Thursday granted anticipatory bail in Spy Cam Case to Fabindia managing director, CEO and five other officials in the Candolim store trial room camera case. After failing to appear before the police, seven senior officials of retailer Fabindia had sought anticipatory bail in a Goa court.

The application for the anticipatory bail was filed by company’s Managing Director William Bissel, Chief Executive Officer Subrata Dutta and five others on Wednesday evening in Mapusa town district court.

According to Superintendent of Police (CB) Kartik Kashyap, other five officials who sought anticipatory bail to avoid arrest are Fabindia’s regional manager Ruchira Pujari, marketing chief Ramu Chandra, stores in-charge Kundan Gupta, E-commerce head Arun Naikar and category head Ashima Agarwal, he said.

Here’s what We Know About Fabindia Cam Case:

  • Union HRD Minister Smriti Irani alleged on April 3 that a CCTV camera in Goa showroom focused towards the trial room.
Fabindia denied placing hidden cameras in any of its stores, holding that the camera in question was part of the surveillance system.
Acting swiftly, Goa police arrested four employees of Fabindia Candolim store; later they were granted bail.
Those arrested booked under IPC Section 345C (voyeurism), 509 (intrusion into privacy) and IT Act’s section 66E (capturing, publishing image of private area of any person without his/her consent)
District court earlier this week granted anticipatory bail to Fabindia’s Candolim store manager Chaitrali Sawant, who was questioned by crime branch.
Several Fabindia officials, including MD and CEO, were summoned for questioning on Thursday.
Company’s MD and CEO have agreed to be present before the investigators on Friday.
