Bollywood actor John Abraham was today sentenced by a Sessions court to 15-day imprisonment in a 2006 rash driving case, The court upheld the sentence, awarded by a lower court in 2010.
The actor’s motorbike skidded and rammed two youngsters in suburban Bandra. He was found guilty of rash driving after he injured the two pedestrians. He took the victims, both of whom worked in a shop, to the Bhabha Hospital. He appealed in 2010 against his conviction and has since then attended all hearings in the case.
Earlier, in October 2010, the Bandra Metropolitan Magistrate Court had sentenced the actor to 15 days imprisonment on charges of rash and negligent driving. The court had ordered a simple imprisonment considering that he made the effort to take the two injured youngsters to hospital.
The actor, who has been arrested, will have to remain in police custody till he is granted bail. John will appeal to the higher court for bail, sources said.
