Gandhian Anna Hazare is “hurt” by the Congress terming him the face of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), civil rights activist Arvind Kejriwal said here on Tuesday.
“He has a lot of self-respect and is very hurt by this statement. He is writing a letter on it and you will have to wait for one-and-a-half days,” Kejriwal told reporters.
Eminent lawyer Prashant Bhushan called the statement “absurd”.
“Such an allegation against Anna is not only absurd but is totally beneath contempt,” he said.
“He has fought against all kinds of governments in Maharashtra, including (those headed by the) BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) and the Congress. All of them have tried to woo him but he has stayed away from these mainstream corrupt political parties,” Bhushan added.
Kiran Bedi, a former top cop and now part of the civil rights group, said Hazare is “the most neutral face”.
