Court asks Kejriwal, Sisodia to appear on December 12

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Deputy CM Manish Sisodia and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Sanjay Singh, accused of violating prohibitory orders and obstructing public servants in discharging their duty during an agitation here, were today directed to appear before a city court in December.

Metropolitan Magistrate Harvinder Singh passed the order while granting the politicians exemption from personal appearance for the day after he was told that the accused could not appear due to other engagements.

During the proceedings, other AAP leaders — Rakhi Birla, Somnath Bharti and Ashutosh — appeared before the court, which fixed the matter for further hearing on December 12.

All the accused, chargesheeted by the Delhi Police in the case, were earlier granted bail by the court.

Kejriwal and other leaders had staged a ‘dharna’ outside the Rail Bhavan here.

They were chargesheeted by the police for allegedly violating prohibitory orders under Section 144 of CrPC and obstructing public servants in discharge of their official duty.
