A woman employee of a court in Andhra Pradesh Thursday flung her slipper at the judge in a court room after alleging that he had humiliated her.

Police said they have arrested Radha Rani, a stenographer in a family court, for throwing the slipper at Fourth Additional District Judge Shanmugam. The judge has also suspended her.

The incident occurred in Kurnool town, about 200 km from here.

Radha Rani told reporters that she threw the slipper at the judge as he had been mentally harassing and humiliating her for the last seven months.

The incident took place Thursday morning as the judge pulled up the woman for not leaving her footwear outside and remarked that she should keep it on her head. Enraged by his remark, the steno took off a slipper and flung it at the judge in the presence of lawyers, court employees and litigants.

The judge has refused to comment on the incident. However, the lawyers said some other employees of the court had also alleged harassment by the judge.
