Court extends judicial custody of Tunda

tundatundaA Delhi court Thursday extended the judicial custody of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) bomb-maker and terrorist Abdul Karim Tunda, arrested in a 1997 bomb blast case, till Nov 13. Additional Sessions Judge Dharmesh Sharma extended the judicial custody of Tunda, who was produced before court after expiry of his judicial remand. Earlier, Hyderabad police got Tunda’s custody from a Delhi court in connection with a production warrant issued against him by a court in the Nampally area of the Andhra Pradesh capital regarding a 1998 bomb blast case lodged against him and others.

In Hyderabad, a case was lodged July 2, 1998 on a complaint that said (Pakistan’s) Inter-Services Intelligence activities were going on to wage war against the government, create unrest in India and cause damage to internal security of India and to Hindus and their properties. The LeT terrorist is suspected to be involved in over 40 bombings in the country.

An aide of fugitive don Dawood Ibrahim, Tunda, 70, was also wanted for his suspected involvement in the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts. Tunda was arrested from Uttarakhand’s Banbasa area, close to the Nepal border, when he was trying to enter India Aug 16.
