Refusing to grant exemption from personal hearing to Maharashtra Navanirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray and spokesperson Shirish Parkar, a Delhi court Friday issued non-bailable warrants against them on a complaint of making “hate speeches” against the people of Bihar.

Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Devendra Kumar Sharma issued NBWs against Thackeray and Parkar for Aug 24.

Last month, the court also directed them to appear in person and rejected Thackeray’s plea for exemption.

The court’s direction came on a complaint filed by advocate Premchandra Jaiswal, who is a member of Bihar State Bar Council, Patna, against the MNS chief’s alleged hate speeches against the people of Bihar and demeaning their religious festival of Chhath.

Jaiswal had also accused MNS workers of intimidating them.

Initially, the case was filed before a court in Patna in 2008 and summoning orders and non-bailable warrants were also issued against Thackeray and Parkar.

Later, the Supreme Court transferred the case to Delhi in 2010 along with similar other complaints filed against Thackeray for allegedly making hate speeches.
