On Tuesday court reserved its order in Delhi for November 2 on a plea filed by BJP chief Nitin Gadkari seeking initiation of proceedings against Congress leader Digvijay Singh in a defamation case.

The order has been reserved by Metropolitan Magistrate Sudesh Kumar on the issue of summoning Digvijay Singh in the defamation case filed by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief.

On October 1 Gadkari filed a defamation case against the Congress leader for dragging his name into alleged irregularities in the allocation of coal blocks.

In court the BJP leader recorded his statement that he was “not responsible for any coal blocks allocation to anybody”.

The court order came after BJP Rajya Sabha MP Bhupendra Yadav and a representative of a media house recorded evidence in the case.

Yadav told the court that the alleged statement that Gadkari helped in the allocation of coal blocks to a company belonging to BJP Rajya Sabha member Ajay Sancheti was not true.

Yadav deposed that “The alleged business relation between Nitin Gadkari and Ajay Sancheti and (the claim) that Gadkari had earned Rs.490 crore from coal allocation through Sancheti, is totally false,”

He told the court that the defamatory statements of the Congress leader had lowered Gadkari dignity in the eyes of people.

In his complaint which has been filed through advocate Ajay Digpaul and Anil Soni, Gadkari alleged that Digvijay Singh made false, baseless, scandalous, fabricated and defamatory remarks against him.
