Former Karnataka minister Katta Subramanaya Naidu, arrested in a land scandal, Monday failed to get bail. He can, however, get treated for cancer at any hospital in India, a court here ruled.

Lokayukta Special Court Judge N.K. Sudhindra Rao, who Aug 8 sent Bharatiaya Janata Party leader Naidu to judicial custody, declined him bail but said the former IT minister could get treatment for cancer from either a government or a private hospital in Bangalore or anywhere in the country at his own cost.

Naidu and his son Katta Jagadish, a Bangalore corporator, are facing trial on charges of taking a bribe of Rs.85 crore to allot 385 acres of land in Bangalore outskirts to a software firm.

While Jagadish has been in jail since Aug 8, Naidu has been in a hospital for most of the time.
