The Karnataka High Court Thursday rejected People’s Democratic Party head Abdul Nasir Maudany’s appeal to quash the charge-sheet against him in the 2008 Bangalore serial blasts case.

“There is a prima facie case against him,” Judge Subhash Adi said, dismissing Maudany’s plea.

The PDP leader is the 31st of the 32 people charge-sheeted for alleged involvement in the July 2008 serial explosions in Bangalore that killed a woman and injured 15 people.

Adi said: “The material collected so far by the investigating officer reveals there is a prima facie case against him. Since a probe is still on, it is not proper for the court to intervene in the matter at this point of time.”

“It is not a fit case for quashing of the charge-sheet,” Adi said.

Maudany, arrested by Karnataka police from his camp in Kollam district in Kerala Aug 17, is now lodged in Bangalore’s Parappana Agrahara jail.

His bail plea is pending with the fifth fast track sessions court judge Srikant Watawati who is expected to give his verdict Sep 13. Maudany’s judicial custody ends Sep 14.
