MNS chief Raj ThackerayThe Delhi High Court on Friday issued a notice to MNS chief Raj Thackeray in connection with police complaints over his alleged hate speeches against people from Bihar.

The court sought Thackeray’s response to a plea challenging his move to seek quashing of the police complaints filed against him in 2008.

The matter will be heard on December 4. Petitioner Sudhir Kumar has objected to Thackeray’s attempts to seek quashing of hate-speech cases against him, saying his pleas were “not maintainable”.

Advocate Anup Kumar Sinha, appearing for petitioner, told the court that the Jharkhand High Court had in May 2008 dismissed Thackeray’s plea. In July 2008, the Supreme Court upheld that order.
