The Delhi High Court Wednesday sought a reply from the central government on a public interest litigation by a law student who said that the National Zoological Park (Delhi zoo) had become a “death trap” for animals and should be shifted to the city’s outskirts.

A division bench of chief justice Deepak Misra and Justice Sanjiv Khanna asked the central government to file its reply by May 11.

“On May 11, we will finally decide the matter and pronounce the judgment,” said the bench.
