The Delhi High Court has directed Delhi government to pay Rs three lakh compensation to the husband and child of a woman who died while giving birth while in “illegal” custody at a state-run shelter for minor girls.
A bench of justices B D Ahmed and Veena Birbal awarded the amount to the deceased’s spouse and three-and-half-year-old daughter saying her detention in the shelter home was “illegal” as she was not a minor.
