HC gets another woman judge

New Delhi, Oct 23  Ms Mukta Gupta was sworn in as additional judge of Delhi High Court today, raising the strength of women judges to eight.

High Court Chief Justice A P Shah administered the oath in the presence of the full bench of High Court judges and lawyers.

Ms Gupta, 48, has been appointed an Additional judge for a period of two years.

Ms Gupta has served as the standing counsel for the National Capital Territory government for the Delhi Police for more than nine years. She has to her credit many crucial cases including the Parliament attack case in which she assisted senior advocate Gopal Subramanium, who is now Solicitor General of India.

With her swearing in, the number of women judges in the high court has gone up to eight.
