DDA’s response on a PIL has been soughed out by the Delhi High court seeking a direction to the land agency to take action against an educational society for its alleged illegal transfer of land to another society for construction of a private school.

A bench of Chief Justice D Murugesan and Justice V K Jain also issued a notice to Dayanand Public School, run by Arya Samaj in Model Town and G D Goenka public school and sought their responses by May 29.

The court was hearing a PIL filed by one Massod Alam alleging the land was allotted to Arya Samaj in the year 2000 for construction of a school to provide better education to the poor children but the land was transferred to Goenka Public School illegally without taking permission from DDA.

“The land was not transferable to any other society or institution without prior permission of DDA, as per the allotment letter but after construction of the building in the plot, without completion certificate from any competent authority of the government, the Dayanand School, in connivance with DDA, has handed over the school to Goenka School…. which is charging high fee for the admission from the students,” according to the plea.

The petition sought immediate cancellation of the transfer of land and appropriate action.
