Awarding punishment to a man for fighting and causing grievous injuries to his neighbours over parking space, Delhi High Court has ordered the suspension of his driving license for six months.

Justice Hima Kohli also directed the man and his three sons to pay Rs.10,000 to their neighbour’s family and deposit another Rs.10,000 with Delhi Police Welfare Society as punishment.

Ramesh Chandra of Rohini had moved the Delhi High Court seeking quashing of a First Information Report (FIR) registered against him and his three sons for causing grievous injuries to his neighbours by attacking them with hockey sticks after a quarrel over parking space.

The court said: “It is rather unfortunate that on a petty issue relating to a car being parked outside their residence, the petitioners (Ramesh Chandra and his sons) had taken the law in their hands.”

The court quashed the FIR after an undertaking by Chandra and his sons that they “shall maintain good conduct” and not indulge in any such activities.

The court said: “It is directed that Chandra shall surrender his driving license… which shall remain suspended for six months…”
