The Delhi police on Monday said they have busted a major human trafficking ring with the arrest of a man who transported illegal immigrants from India to Mexico, Canada and the US through Guatemala.

‘Adil Vali Mohammad, 38, was arrested Saturday when 31 passports, apart from his own, were confiscated from his possession at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport,’ said a police official.

Mohammad, a computer graduate, hails from a lower-middle class family from Mumbai, the police official said.

‘Investigations revealed participation of a greater network that has recently trafficked 30 Indians, 29 from Gujarat and two from Punjab, through a tout at Guatemala. The route they have adopted is completely new,’ the police official said.

The touts would charge Rs.20-30 lakh from each illegal immigrant.

After bringing them to Delhi from various places in India, a man from the gang would prepare their fake travel documents before transporting them .
