On Tuesday the Mumbai police has filed a supplementary charge sheet in the November 26 Mumbai terror attacks case naming Zaibuddin Ansari aka Abu Jundal the key planner.

Jundal, reportedly a member of Lashkar-e-Toiba terrorist group, is now in custody of the National Investigation Agency (NIA). The detailed charge sheet running into several volumes purportedly gives details of how the attack was plotted and remote-controlled by Jundal.

The charge sheet has been filed in the court of Additional Metropolitan Magistrate; P S Rathod stated that Jundal’s prime task was to teach Hindi to the gunmen. At the time of the attack, except for Ajmal Kasab, nine other gunmen were killed in a direct gun fight with the security forces.

The charge sheet points out that Jundal, from Maharashtra’s Beed district, trained the gunmen in local Mumbai dialect to cover up their Pakistani accent.

The charge sheet also mentions the names of 47 others wanted in the case. Jundal, after being taken into custody by the Delhi police following deportation from Saudi Arabia in June, was brought to Mumbai on July 21.

After the custody of Jundal has got ended with the Anti-Terrorism Squad here, the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court ordered that Jundal should be taken back to Delhi, where he was handed over to the NIA. The NIA in its FIR on June 8 charged Jundal and Faiyaz Kagzi with organising explosives to be used in the terror attack in cities like Mumbai and Delhi.

He is also wanted in other terror-related cases in Maharashtra like the Aurangabad arms haul case, 2010 German Bakery blast case and an aborted attempt to blow up the Nashik Police Academy.
