Remo to move Goa court seeking anticipatory bail ?

Fearing arrest, Pop singer Remo Fernandes, booked by Goa Police for verbally abusing a 17-year-old girl, who was allegedly hit by his son Johan’s car, has decided to move a court here for anticipatory bail.

“We are going to move for anticipatory bail any time from now. I am just waiting for the application signed by Remo from Portugal. We are moving Goa Children’s Court seeking protection from arrest (anticipatory bail),” Advocate Rajiv Gomes representing Remo said.

He said a look-out notice has already been issued against the singer and police is in the process of getting a look out circular against him which means he can be arrested at the airport itself when he returns to Goa.

The singer told the court yesterday (via his lawyer), while intervening in one of the petitions filed to monitor the investigations in the case, that he is trying to reach Goa before January 8, 2016 which is his scheduled arrival.

The 62-year-old playback artist had filed an intervention application before Goa Children’s Court here where social activist Aires Rodrigues has made a petition demanding monitoring of investigations in the case.

Remo is booked under Goa Children’s Act for verbally abusing a minor girl at Goa Medical College and hospital where she was taking treatment after being hit by his son’s car on December 3.

“It is highly impossible for the applicant (Remo) to reach Goa before January 8 but he is making all efforts to be in Goa before that date,” advocate Gomes told court yesterday.

He said Remo had left Goa for Portugal on December 7, 2015 and the FIR was filed on December 19 in his absence.

“The intervenor (Remo) states that during his absence, the Agassaim police sent him a notice to appear before the police. But through his advocate he had informed the police that he is out of station and would arrive back in Goa only on January 8, 2016,” Gomes told the court.

The singer had also told the court that he is innocent and was falsely implicated in the case by complainant (Aires Rodrigues), who had filed police complaint on behalf of the girl.

Remo had said he has no objection to the court monitoring the investigations but certain facts have to be placed before the court which have not been placed by Rodrigues (while filing the petition).

The singer accused Rodrigues of victimizing and harassing him.

“The intervenor (Remo) states that the alleged crime is a false accusation levelled against him and he is unwarrantedly victimised and harassed by the complainant (Rodrigues),” Gomes told the court.

Earlier, Mapusa Police booked Johan for rash driving after the incident early this month.

Police have already recorded the statement of the girl and her elder sister, who hail from Malvan town in adjoining Maharashtra.

The statements of the GMCH staff, who were on duty when the incident happened, have also been recorded.
