supreme courtThe Supreme Court on Tuesday dismissed the plea of a Delhi resident seeking its direction to the Lieutenant Governor to invite him to form the State government.

A bench of justices B S Chauhan and A K Sikri refused to entertain the plea of Bam Bam Maharaj who submitted that he has support of few MLAs in the Assembly and be invited to form the government.

The petitioner submitted that he had written various letters to LG and annexed written support given to him by MLAs Vinod K Binny, Rambir Shokeen, Anil Jha and Gugan Singh but the governor refused to invite him to form government.

At the outset of the hearing, the bench wondered how a person who has not been elected by electorate can claim to form the government and dismissed his plea.

“Issue an order declaring the denial to him to form government with the help of elected MLAs is arbitrary and unconstitutional,” he said in his petition.
