A specialised dialysis centre is coming up in the national capital to meet the increasing demand for the service by patients, the government told the Delhi High Court Tuesday.

Zubeida Begum, counsel for the Delhi government, informed Justice S. Muralidhar that a separate kidney dialysis centre was in the process of being built in Sadiq Nagar.

She said that the centre will be a public private partnership. Counsel added that the governmment would also start a one-year course to train technicians in kidney dialysis and would frame a policy kidney transplants.

The court expressed dissatisfaction over the absence of dialysis facilities for AIDS patients and asked the government to respond by May 21.

“Delhi has long queues of patients waiting for dialysis and this trend should be stopped,” the bench said.
