“In Kerala a special court will be set up to ensure speedy trial of sexual exploitation cases” According to the Chief Minister Oomen Chandy.

After the Cabinet meeting Chandy said, “We have decided to sanction 18 new posts to set up a new additional and district court at Kochi. It will deal with only cases pertaining to the exploitation of women and children.”

Chandy aslo mentioned, “With the high court also taking up the issue, things will be now be speeded up.”

The demand for a special court for such cases gained momentum after Dec 16, 2012 Delhi gang-rape in which a 23-year-old woman was brutally assaulted in a moving bus. The para-medical student succumbed to her injuries Dec 29.
