A special court has been set up here to hear the case of serial bombings at the Mahabodhi temple in Bihar, a police officer said Tuesday.

The court has been established in the Patna civil court, said the official who is assisting the National Investigation Agency’s probe into the July 7 terror attack.

The move comes after 10 bombs exploded at the 1,500-year-old temple complex.

Police later recovered and defused three small gas cylinder bombs, weighing two-three kg. Two Buddhist monks were injured in the blasts. But no major damage was reported.

The Mahabodhi temple – a Unesco World Heritage site – is where the Buddha, who was born in neighbouring Nepal, attained enlightenment around 2,550 years ago.
