The Supreme Court today adjourned till March 2 the hearing of the two petitions seeking CBI probe into fake encounters in Gujarat.

A bench comprising Justices Aftab Alam and Ranjana Prakash Desai had earlier directed the CBI to investigate all the 22 fake encounters which took place in Gujarat between 2002 to 2006. On the last date of hearing, the Supreme Court had pulled up Narendra Modi government for appointing the head of Monitoring Committee without taking the apex court into confidence. The petitions have been filed by a leading journalist Mr B G Verghese and noted lyricist Javed Akhtar.
