The Supreme Court was moved Sunday seeking direction to the central government to reveal details of the police action involving the detention of yoga guru Baba Ramdev and the eviction of his supporters from the Ramlila Ground here on the night of June 4-5 while they were protesting against graft.

The matter will come up for hearing Monday.

Petitioner Ajay Agarwal, an advocate, has also sought details of all that transpired between union ministers Kapil Sibal and Subodh Kant Sahai and Ramdev during their negotiations Friday. The petitioner sought the information within three days.

The petitioner sought directions restraining Sibal, Sahai and Bansal from making provocative statements “justifying the uncalled for police action”.

The plea also sought direction to the home ministry, the Intelligence Bureau and the Delhi Police to be present in court with the entire records, including the voice records, which led to the “barbaric act” by police.

The petitioner said that the midnight crackdown against the yoga guru was the result of the alleged refusal of Ramdev to go along with the deal brokered by Sibal. He said that crackdown left 100 people injured, 71 of them critically.

The advocate asked in his plea what was wrong in Ramdev demanding that the black money stashed away in tax havens abroad be declared a national asset. He asked why the central government was shying away from conceding this demand.

The petitioner said that the government was resisting Ramdev’s demands because “the entire government is corruption-ridden”.

He said that “most of the ministers of the government themselves have secret accounts in Swiss banks”.

The petitioner referred to the involvement of former communications minister A. Raja and DMK MP Kanimozhi in the 2G scam and Congress MP Suresh Kalmadi in Commonwealth Games scam and pointed to the allegations against former telecom minister Dayanidhi Maran.
