The Supreme Court was moved Thursday for directing the central and state governments to install CCTVs and other security gadgets at all courts under their jurisdiction.

Petitioner Ajay Agarwal sought direction to the cabinet secretary, the union home secretary, the Delhi government’s chief secretary and Delhi Police commissioner to take action against the “erring and negligent” officers for their failure to install CCTVs at the Delhi High Court even after the May 25 bomb blast outside the complex.

Claiming to be a witness to Wednesday’s blast at the court which claimed 12 lives, Agarwal said that the May 25 blast was not taken seriously by police as there was no casualty.

The petition said police could not escape from its failure for ignoring the previous blasts and for not taking any remedial steps.

The petitioner said that the May 25 blast was a “warning from the terrorists” but the “administration and police did not take it seriously”.

The petition has been filed with the registrar’s office. The court will now examine it for its admissibility.
