prosThe Thane sessions court sentenced Kalpana Tularam Bahadur Tamang (45) to seven years of rigorous imprisonment (RI) and Rs 5,000 fine on Friday for dragging two minor girls into prostitution.
Tamang had brought the two minor girls from West Bengal under the pretext of giving them jobs as domestic helps but forced them into flesh trade instead.

Head constable Ashok Palkar said that Tamang was arrested on December 26, 2011 in Turbhe. The Turbhe police, coordinating with Anti-extortion cell, rescued the two minor girls. “On Friday, the case was heard by Thane session court judge S J Kale. Public prosecutor Sanjay Londhe produced sufficient evidence, along with witnesses and victims’ testimony,” said Palkar.

If Tamang does not pay the penalty, she will have to face additional imprisonment of six months. “She will be shifted either to Nashik or Kolhapur central jail. The two victims are being educated by NGO Justice and Care at Boisar,” added Palkar.
