An Act further to amend the Passport (Entry into India) Act, 1920.BE it enacted by Parliament in the Fifty-first Year of the Republic of
\nIndia as follows:-<\/p>\n
1.Short title.<\/p>\n
1. Short title.-This Act may be called the Passport (Entry into
\nIndia) Amendment Act, 2000.<\/p>\n
2.Amendment of section 3.2. Amendment of section 3.-In section 3 of the Passport (Entry into
\nIndia) Act, 1920 (34 of 1920) (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act), in sub-section (3), for the words “punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to three months, or with fine, or with both”, the words “punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to five years, or with fine which may extend to fifty thousand rupees, or with both” shall be substituted.<\/p>\n
3.Insertion of new section 3A.<\/p>\n
3. Insertion of new section 3A.-After section 3 of the principal Act, the following section shall be inserted, namely:-<\/p>\n
“3A. Punishment for subsequent offences.-Whoever having been convicted of an offence under any rule or order made under this Act is again convicted of an offence under this Act shall be punishable with double the penalty provided for the later offence.”.<\/p>\n
4.Amendment of section 4.4. Amendment of section 4.-In section 4 of the principal Act, in sub-section (2), for the words and figures “section 61 of the Code of
\nCriminal Procedure, 1898 (5 of 1898),”, the words and figures “section
\n57 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 (2 of 1974),” shall be substituted.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
