An Act for the forfeiture to Government of deposits made on incomplete sales of land under 2*Regulation 8, 1819. 3*Preamble.–WHEREAS patnidars 4*fraudulently avail themselves of the 5*provision in section 9, Regulation 8, 1819, of the Bengal
\nCode 6*that forfeited deposits at sales of land 7*for arrears of rent shall be applied as if they were purchase-money. It is enacted as follows:–

\n2. Application of forfeited deposits.–Any such forfeited deposit shall be applied to defray the expenses of the sale, and the surplus shall be forfeited to Government.

Since this Act supplements the Bengal Patni Taluks Regulation,
\n1819 (8 of 1819), it must be taken to have been passed, like that
\nRegulation, for the whole of the former Province of Bengal.<\/p>\n
