on 7 July, 2009<\/div>\n<\/p>\n<pre><\/pre>\n<p>                                                      &gt; <\/p>\n<p><a class=\"marker_ref\" href=\"\/search\/?formInput=Title\">Title<\/a>: Need to control the annual flood havoc wrecked by rivers Keleghai and Kapaleswari in West Medinipur District of West Bengal.   <\/p>\n<p>\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0   <\/p>\n<p>\u00a0  <\/p>\n<p><a class=\"marker_ref\" href=\"\/search\/?formInput=SHRI%20PRABODH%20PANDA%20\">SHRI PRABODH PANDA <\/a>(<a class=\"marker_ref\" href=\"\/search\/?formInput=MIDNAPORE\">MIDNAPORE<\/a>): The river Keleghai and Kapaleswari flow through West Medinipur district of West Bengal and play important role in river drainage system.\u00a0 But due to decrease in the depth\u00a0 of their riverbed and lack of scientific water-management the water carrying capacity of these two rivers has gone down substantially causing breach of embankments and floods every year inflicting great danger to crops and the lives of peasants.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n<p>The West Bengal Government has prepared a DPR regarding dredging of these two rivers including repair of embankments and submitted to Central Government long back for appropriate action.\u00a0But it is a matter of great concern that till date no response has come from the Central Government.\n<\/p>\n<p>Therefore, keeping in view the common people\u2019s interests, I urge upon the Central Government and the Ministry of Water Resources in particular to come out with positive response with necessary technical sanctions and adequate financial assistance to the projects submitted by the West Bengal State Government so that lakhs of poor peasants and other poor people are saved from misery every year.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0   <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Lok Sabha Debates Need To Control The Annual Flood Havoc Wrecked By Rivers Keleghai And &#8230;
