U.S. Singhal\n\nName of the Public Authority:       Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited\n\nFacts<\/pre>\n<p>:\n<\/p>\n<p>1.       Both the parties were heard on 11\/7\/2008.\n<\/p>\n<p>2.       The appellant stated that he had received a telephone bill without<br \/>\noperationalisation of the telephone connection. In this backdrop, he had sought<br \/>\nfor certain information. He has alleged that the CPIO has not provided complete<br \/>\ninformation.\n<\/p>\n<p>3.       The CPIO stated that the information, as asked for, have been furnished<br \/>\nand there is no denial of information.         He said that the appellant did not<br \/>\ncooperate in installation of the phone equipment on the ground of it being an old<br \/>\nequipment.      He also said that an attempt has been made to redress the<br \/>\ngrievances of the appellant. A part of the total bill amount was waived of.\n<\/p>\n<p>4.       In the course of hearing, the CPIO assured the appellant that he would<br \/>\nlook into his grievances relating to excess bill and on the basis of actual uses of<br \/>\ntelephone facility, the bill in question would be settled.\n<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"hidden_text\">                                           1<\/span><\/p>\n<p> Decision:\n<\/p>\n<p>5.     As agreed between the parties, the CPIO is directed to make sincere<br \/>\nefforts to redress the grievances of the appellant, including settlement of disputes<br \/>\nrelating to excess bills. This should be done within 15 working days from the<br \/>\ndate of issue of this decision.\n<\/p>\n<p>6.     Had the respondent made adequate arrangements for redressal of<br \/>\ngrievances of its customers, an application under the provisions of RTI could<br \/>\nhave been avoided.\n<\/p>\n<p>7.
