Justice P.N.RAVINDRAN\n\n Dated :03\/03\/2009\n\n O R D E R\n                       P.N.RAVINDRAN, J.\n                     ---------------------------\n                  W.P.(C).No.18781 of 2008 - J\n                    -----------------------------\n              Dated this the 3rd day of March, 2009\n\n                          J U D G M E N T\n<\/pre>\n<p>      Heard Sri.B.Mohan Lal, the learned counsel appearing for<\/p>\n<p>the petitioner, Sri.S.Krishnamoorthy, the learned Standing<\/p>\n<p>Counsel appearing for the University Grants Commission and<\/p>\n<p>Sri.A.J.Varghese, the learned Government Pleader appearing for<\/p>\n<p>respondents 3 to 9.\n<\/p>\n<p>      2.   The petitioners are Selection Grade Lecturers working<\/p>\n<p>in various aided private colleges. All of them have been placed<\/p>\n<p>under the UGC Scheme 1998 with effect from 1.1.1996. Their<\/p>\n<p>grievance is that their claim for fixation of pay at Rs.14,940\/- in<\/p>\n<p>the scale of pay of Rs.12000-420-18300 on completion of five<\/p>\n<p>years of service as Selection Grade Lecturers has not granted. A<\/p>\n<p>Division Bench of this Court has in Ext.P7 judgment in<\/p>\n<p>W.A.No.1394 of 2008 and connected cases held that those<\/p>\n<p>teachers who were lecturers as on 1.1.1996 and who were<\/p>\n<p>subsequently placed in the Selection Grade after 1.1.1996 will be<\/p>\n<p>entitled to draw Rs.14,940\/- as pay in the scale of pay of 12400-<\/p>\n<p>420-18300 on completion of five years as Selection Grade<\/p>\n<p>W.P.(C).No.18781 of 2008 &#8211; J<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"hidden_text\">                                  2<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Lecturers.    The Division Bench also directed disbursement of<\/p>\n<p>consequential benefits within three months from the date of<\/p>\n<p>production of a copy of the judgment.\n<\/p>\n<p>      3.   In view of Ext.P7 judgment, I dispose of this writ<\/p>\n<p>petition with a direction that those among the petitioners who<\/p>\n<p>were Lecturers as on 1.1.1996 and who were subsequently<\/p>\n<p>placed in the Selection Grade after 1.1.1996 will be entitled to<\/p>\n<p>have their pay fixed at Rs.14,940\/- in the scale of pay of 12000-<\/p>\n<p>420-18300 on completion of five years service as Selection Grade<\/p>\n<p>Lecturers. The competent authority among respondents 3 to 9<\/p>\n<p>shall disburse the consequential benefits to the petitioners within<\/p>\n<p>a period of four months from the date of receipt of a certified<\/p>\n<p>copy of this judgment.
