S.J. MUKHOPADHAYA)<\/p>\n<p>\tThe<br \/>\npetition was filed for direction on the respondent-University to<br \/>\nensure that all admissions which are given to the students  seeking<br \/>\nadmission in the First Year in the Bachelor Degree of Commerce in the<br \/>\nacademic year 2011-2012 under the centralised  admission system by<br \/>\nthe Colleges affiliated with the respondent-University, including<br \/>\nself-financed colleges, are given strictly in the order of merit by<br \/>\ngiving all eligible students a fair chance to be considered for<br \/>\nadmission to First Year in the Bachelor Degree of Commerce in the<br \/>\nacademic year 2011-2012. Further prayer has been made to restrain the<br \/>\nrespondent-University from sending any other list or quota to the<br \/>\ncolleges affiliated with the respondent University, including<br \/>\nself-financed colleges  which would compel the said colleges to grant<br \/>\nany  admission in the First Year in the Bachelor Degree of Commerce<br \/>\nin the academic year 2011-2012 under the centralised admission system<br \/>\noutside the merit list.\n<\/p>\n<p>2.\tMr.\n<\/p>\n<p>SI Nanavati appearing on behalf of the second respondent submits that<br \/>\nthere is no centralised admission system prevailing in the University<br \/>\nand, therefore, the relief sought for is vague and general in nature.\n<\/p>\n<p>3.\tMr<br \/>\nShelat appearing  on behalf of the Gujarat University would contend<br \/>\nthat admissions will be made in accordance with law on the basis of<br \/>\nmerit-cum-choice. In the reply affidavit, the respondent-University<br \/>\nhas taken a specific plea that applications  are being invited from<br \/>\nthose students who have not secured admission as on today. Those who<br \/>\nhave secured their admissions have no further right to seek admission<br \/>\nand cannot change their colleges at this stage.\n<\/p>\n<p>4.\tIn<br \/>\nview of such stand taken by the University, the learned counsel for<br \/>\nthe petitioners does not press this petition.
