{"id":129522,"date":"2005-12-21T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2005-12-20T18:30:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.legalindia.com\/judgments\/need-to-take-steps-to-augment-revenue-earnings-of-doordarshan-kendra-on-21-december-2005"},"modified":"2015-12-01T02:42:33","modified_gmt":"2015-11-30T21:12:33","slug":"need-to-take-steps-to-augment-revenue-earnings-of-doordarshan-kendra-on-21-december-2005","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.legalindia.com\/judgments\/need-to-take-steps-to-augment-revenue-earnings-of-doordarshan-kendra-on-21-december-2005","title":{"rendered":"Need To Take Steps To Augment Revenue Earnings Of Doordarshan Kendra, &#8230; on 21 December, 2005"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"docsource_main\">Lok Sabha Debates<\/div>\n<div class=\"doc_title\">Need To Take Steps To Augment Revenue Earnings Of Doordarshan Kendra, &#8230; on 21 December, 2005<\/div>\n<\/p>\n<pre><\/pre>\n<p>                                          an&gt; <\/p>\n<p><a class=\"marker_ref\" href=\"\/search\/?formInput=Title%20\">Title <\/a>:  Need to take steps to augment revenue earnings of Doordarshan Kendra, Kolkata.  <\/p>\n<p><a class=\"marker_ref\" href=\"\/search\/?formInput=SHRI%20SUNIL%20KHAN%20\">SHRI SUNIL KHAN <\/a>(<a class=\"marker_ref\" href=\"\/search\/?formInput=DURGAPUR\">DURGAPUR<\/a>):\u00a0Doordarshan Kolkata is allotting time slots to new programmes at much lower price avoiding the bidding process.\u00a0\u00a0The slots that fetches Rs. 60,000.00 or more are being allotted at Rs. 15,000.00 to the chosen few.\u00a0\u00a0 Even highest revenue earning slots are allotted to selective people at as allow as Rs. 10,000.00.\u00a0 This will further increase the loss of revenue.\u00a0\u00a0 No positive action has been taken against any of the defaulters.\u00a0\u00a0 No legal action has been initiated to realize payment from default producers.\u00a0This is another area of loss of revenue.\u00a0 For example the time slot wise breakdown will give you a clear picture about the cause of loss of the Kendra for about Rs. 13 crores.\n<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Time slot 2.30-2.55 P.M. rate\/30 minute (existing) slot is vacant since 14.7.2004.\u00a0 the total loss of revenue is at Rs. 1,72,72,500.00.\u00a0 It is happening since 16.1.2003 but no positive action has been taken to improve the quality of the programmes and as such private satellite channels are gaining advantage both due to quality and dearth of programmes at Doordarshan.\u00a0\u00a0 I urge upon the Union Government to stop the menace of loss of revenue due to vacant slots, default producers, allotment of slots at cheaper rates to selected few so that Kolkata Doordarshan can once again get back the glory of highest revenue earning Kendra amongst all Kendras of Doordarshan.\n<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0  <\/p>\n<p>\u00a0  <\/p>\n<p>\u00a0  <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Lok Sabha Debates Need To Take Steps To Augment Revenue Earnings Of Doordarshan Kendra, &#8230; on 21 December, 2005 an&gt; Title : Need to take steps to augment revenue earnings of Doordarshan Kendra, Kolkata.
