SWAMI): In the Statement enclosed to the reply containing answer to parts (a) to (h) of Lok Sabha Starred Question No. 27 answered on 16.7.2002, reply to parts (c) and (d) of the answer pertaining to the casualty figures during the period April to June 2002 was given as under:\n<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;(c) and (d) :- The Communal riots in Gujarat which started following the Godhra train carnage on 27.2.2002 continued with some sporadic incidents of communal violence during the period in question, that is April-June, 2002. During this period 216 civilians and two police\/security personnel were killed, 790 civilians and 211 police\/security personnel were injured and the value of the property lost was about Rs.417.70 crores. Besides, as per available information, during April to June, 2002, one major communal riot occurred at Jamner town in Jalgaon district of Maharashtra in which seven persons lost their lives and 42 persons sustained injuries.&#8221;\n<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0 <\/p>\n<p>\u00a0In place of the above answer the following may be substituted:-\n<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;(c) and (d):- The communal riots in Gujarat which started following the Godhra train carnage on 27.2.2002 continued with some sporadic incidents of communal violence during the period in question, that is April-June, 2002. During this period 169 civilians and two police\/security personnel were killed, 790 civilians and 168 police\/security personnel were injured and the value of the property lost was about Rs.417.70 crores. Besides, as per available information, during April to June, 2002, one major communal riot occurred at Jamner town in Jalgaon district of Maharashtra in which seven persons lost their lives and 42 persons sustained injuries.The correction has been necessitated due to the revised information having been received subsequently from the State Government of Gujarat.\n<\/p>\n<p>The error is regretted.\n<\/p>\n<p>Also placed in Library. See No. Lt-6309\/2002<br \/>\n\u00a0 <\/p>\n<p>REASONS FOR DELAY*<br \/>\n\u00a0 <\/p>\n<p>The reply given to the Lok Sabha Starred Question No. 27 on 16.7.2002 needed some correction on the basis of revised information received from the State Government. The correcting statement and connected papers in this regard were prepared and sent to the Lok Sabha Secretariat on 9.8.2002 for inclusion in the List of Business for 13.8.2002 but the same could not be laid on the Table of the House as the House was adjournedsine die on 12.8.2002.
