DHANARAJU <\/a>(<a class=\"marker_ref\" href=\"\/search\/?formInput=TINDIVANAM\">TINDIVANAM<\/a>):\u00a0 Mr. Speaker, Sir, I thank you very much for allowing me to raise a very important matter of public interest relating to\u00a0 eye donations.\u2026 (Interruptions) Despite several campaigns to promote eye donations, the country is yet to meet the requirement of at least two lakh corneas.\u2026 (Interruptions)\u00a0 According to experts on the subject, so far, only 30,000 eyes have been collected this year.  <\/p>\n<p><a class=\"marker_ref\" href=\"\/search\/?formInput=SHRI%20ARJUN%20SETHI%20\">SHRI ARJUN SETHI <\/a>(<a class=\"marker_ref\" href=\"\/search\/?formInput=BHADRAK\">BHADRAK<\/a>):\u00a0 Sir, I want to raise a very important matter.\u2026 (Interruptions)  <\/p>\n<p><a class=\"marker_ref\" href=\"\/search\/?formInput=MR.%20SPEAKER\">MR. SPEAKER<\/a>:\u00a0 You will be informed tomorrow.\n<\/p>\n<p>\u2026 (Interruptions)\n<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"marker_ref\" href=\"\/search\/?formInput=MR.%20SPEAKER\">MR. SPEAKER<\/a>:\u00a0 I am very much surprised. It is very unfortunate.  <\/p>\n<p><a class=\"marker_ref\" href=\"\/search\/?formInput=DR.%20K.%20DHANARAJU%C2%A0%20\">DR. K. DHANARAJU\u00a0 <\/a>: In India,\u00a0 it is estimated that about 12 million people are blind.\u2026 (Interruptions)  <\/p>\n<p><a class=\"marker_ref\" href=\"\/search\/?formInput=MR.%20SPEAKER\">MR. SPEAKER<\/a>:\u00a0 I have given an opportunity to one hon. Member. He is raising an important issue.  <\/p>\n<p><a class=\"marker_ref\" href=\"\/search\/?formInput=DR.%20K.%20DHANARAJU%C2%A0%20\">DR. K. DHANARAJU\u00a0 <\/a>:\u00a0 I would suggest to the Government to appoint one grief Counselor at each Eye Bank as part of the Eleventh Five Year Plan. The procedure for eye donations\u00a0 should be made very simple.\u2026 (Interruptions) A comprehensive database for corneal blindness should also be made.
