Basheer, J.\n<\/p>\n<p>            Petitioners are stated to be President and Vice President<\/p>\n<p>respectively of the Indian Union Muslim League, Kallachi Unit. They<\/p>\n<p>are aggrieved by the alleged partisan attitude of the police towards the<\/p>\n<p>workers of the political party to which they belong. They allege that their<\/p>\n<p>party workers were targeted by the police in the recent group clashes that<\/p>\n<p>took place in and around Nadapuram and Kallachi area between the<\/p>\n<p>workers belonging to their party and the Communist Party of India<\/p>\n<p>(Marxist). They pray for issue of a writ of mandamus or such other<\/p>\n<p>appropriate writ, order or direction to respondents 2 and 3 to institute a<\/p>\n<p>judicial enquiry into the incidents that happened in October, 2009 in the<\/p>\n<p>two areas mentioned above.\n<\/p>\n<p>            2. When this writ petition came up for consideration before<\/p>\n<p>us on the last occasion, we directed the learned Government Pleader to<\/p>\n<p>get instructions and inform us the views of the Government in the matter.<\/p>\n<p>W.P.(C) No.36117 of 2009\n<\/p>\n<p>                                    &#8211; 2 &#8211;\n<\/p>\n<p>             3. A statement has been filed by the Superintendent of<\/p>\n<p>Police, Kozhikode Rural. The officer has tried to explain the action<\/p>\n<p>taken by the police force to restore normalcy in the area. He has also<\/p>\n<p>referred to the various crimes registered against the culprits involved in<\/p>\n<p>the incidents.\n<\/p>\n<p>             4.   But surprisingly, the Chief Secretary of the State<\/p>\n<p>Government has not come out with any decision, if any, taken at the<\/p>\n<p>highest level as regards the prayer for a judicial enquiry. However,<\/p>\n<p>learned Advocate General submits that the Government is of the view<\/p>\n<p>that no judicial enquiry is warranted in the matter. We leave it to the<\/p>\n<p>wisdom of the Government. Hence we do not find any reason to<\/p>\n<p>exercise our discretionary jurisdiction under Article 226 of the<\/p>\n<p>Constitution of India and issue a direction to the Government to<\/p>\n<p>institute a judicial enquiry.\n<\/p>\n<p>             The writ petition is closed.\n<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>                                        S.R.Bannurmath,<br \/>\n                                         Chief Justice<\/p>\n<p>                                         A.K.
