Minister of State in the Ministry of human Resource Development, in her written reply, informed the Rajya Sabha that from 2001 to 2005 (till date), 287 complaints of sexual harassment at workplace have been received by the National Commission of Women. Again, according to data compiled by the Ministry of Home Affairs, 7,11,778 cases of atrocities on women had been reported during 2000-2004. The Government claims that it has initiated different actions to prevent sexual harassment at workplace as well as other crimes being committed against women. But the ever-rising graphs on these two scores prove that initiation of actions, as claimed by Government, is not enough to control this social menace.\n<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 I, therefore, demand stringent action against the offenders. I also demand establishment of special court for speedy trial of all such cases.
