Their<\/p>\n<p>grievance in this writ petition is that they are not being permitted to<\/p>\n<p>write the eligibility test for promotion to the post of Head Constable.<\/p>\n<p>According to them, going by their seniority, they are entitled to be<\/p>\n<p>considered for such promotion.          Detailing their grievances, the<\/p>\n<p>petitioners have filed Exts.P7 and P8 representations before the 3rd<\/p>\n<p>respondent. The petitioners seek a direction to the 3rd respondent to<\/p>\n<p>consider and pass orders on Exts. P7 and P8 expeditiously.<\/p>\n<p>      2. Having heard both sides, I dispose of this writ petition with<\/p>\n<p>the following directions:\n<\/p>\n<p>      The 3rd respondent shall consider and pass orders on Exts.P7<\/p>\n<p>and P8 as expeditiously as possible, preferably before the next<\/p>\n<p>eligibility test for promotion to be conducted on 9.10.2010. If, for<\/p>\n<p>any reason, orders cannot be passed thereon before 9.10.2010, the 3rd<\/p>\n<p>respondent shall consider allowing the petitioners to write the<\/p>\n<p>eligibility test on 9.10.2010 provisionally subject to the decisions in<\/p>\n<p>Exts.P7 and P8.\n<\/p>\n<p>       The petitioners shall forward a copy of the writ petition along<\/p>\n<p>with a certified copy of this      judgment to the 3rd respondent for<\/p>\n<p>compliance.\n<\/p>\n<p>                                          Sd\/- S.
