Rivers Mahananda, Nagar, Sui, Kulik, Srimati, Fulohar and partly Ganga are causing disaster. Since most of the river belts are full of silt, that cannot accommodate heavy downpour or excess of water during Monsoon. No comprehensive policy on the part of State Government or Union Government have yet been adopted to protect these Revenue Blocks of Bengal from the onslaught of floods. Atleast 20 flood shelter homes in each Revenue Block and Flood Management Master Plan, should be planned immediately otherwise future of North Malda Sub-Division and Uttar Dinajpur, the newly born district would be at stake.
