Title<\/a>:  The Ministry of State in the Ministry of Railways made a statement correcting the reply given on Novermber 22, 2007 to Starred Question No. 114 by Shri Magunta Sreenivasulu Reddy, MP regarding capacity augmentation on saturated  routes and giving reasons for delay in correcting the reply.  <\/p>\n

THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF RAILWAYS (SHRI R. VELU) : Sir, this is with reference to the reply to part (a) and (b) of the Starred Question No. 114, answered on 22.11.2007 asked by Shri Magunta Sreenivasulu Reddy.\u00a0In Para 1, it has been stated that, \u201cApproximately 75 per cent of the total freight traffic is carried on 25 per cent of the route kilometers.\u201d\u00a0 In order to include both passenger and freight traffic, the reply was changed to \u201cApproximately 71 per cent of the total traffic is carried on 28 per cent of the route kilometers\u201d.\n<\/p>\n

Further in Para 3, it was stated that \u201cFurther, Railways have already announced two Dedicated Freight Corridors between Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust-Tughlakabad and Sonenagar-Ludhiana at a cost of more than Rs. 28,000 crores to give relief to two of the densely saturated High Density Network routes viz. Delhi-Mumbai and Delhi-Kolkata High Density Network routes\u201d.\u00a0Since Ministry of Railways have already stated that the Dedicated Freight Corridor between Sonenagar-Ludhiana will be later extended to deep sea port of Kolkata, the reply was changed to \u201cFurther, Railways have already announced two Dedicated Freight Corridors between Jawaharlala Nehru Port Trust-Tughlakabad and Ludhiana-Sonenagar (to be later extended to the deep sea port of Kolkata) at a cost of more than Rs. 28,000 crores to give relief to two\u00a0 of the densely saturated High Density Network routes viz.\u00a0Delhi-Mumbai and Delhi-Kolkata High Density Network routes.\u201d  <\/p>\n
