KHARVENTHAN <\/a>(<a class=\"marker_ref\" href=\"\/search\/?formInput=PALANI\">PALANI<\/a>): Sir, in my Palani parliamentary constituency, the town Palani is the abode of Lord Karthikeya.\u00a0The town Palani had a great soul namely Shri P.S.K. Lakshmipathiraju who fought for the freedom of this country.\u00a0He was the close associate of great Leader, Late Shri K. Karmraj.\n<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 He was born to Shri S. Krishnamaraju and Shrimati Nallammal in the year 1913 at Palani.\u00a0 He had actively participated in the freedom movement of this country at his 16th year itself.\u00a0 He was arrested for a number of times and imprisoned for a period of five years and 29 days in various jails in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh.\n<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 He occupied various public offices like Palani Municipal Chairman; Member \u2013 Madurai District Board; Member of Legislative Assembly \u2013 Palani constituency; Chairman \u2013 Palani Dhandayuthapani Devasthanam Temple Trust; Member \u2013 Cardamom Board, Government of India.\u00a0 The Government of Tamil Nadu had also nominated him on various positions.\n<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 He had close contacts with late leaders \u2013 Mahatmaji and Nehruji.\u00a0 He had organised two visits for Mahatmaji to Palani in the year 1934 and 1946 and organised two very big Conferences at Palani during the year 1936 and 1942 and the same was attended by Jawaharlal Nehruji.\u00a0 He was honoured by both the Leaders.\u00a0 Till his death, he served for the welfare of the people of the country.\n<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Hence, I urge upon the hon. Minister to release a commemorative stamp and a First Day Cover in honour of Late Shri P.S.K.
