GIRI, J.\n                - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -\n                        W.P.(C)No. 32770 OF 2008\n                - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -\n               Dated this the 12th day of November, 2008\n\n                                    JUDGMENT\n<\/pre>\n<p>      Petitioner holds a passport as evidenced by Ext.P1. The place<\/p>\n<p>of birth in his passport is shown as &#8216;Kulayatikara&#8217;, which is his native<\/p>\n<p>place.    But it seems that the petitioner was born in the &#8216;Caritas<\/p>\n<p>Hospital, Thellakam&#8217; as evidenced by Ext.P2. Therefore necessitates<\/p>\n<p>correction in the place of birth as noted in the passport and for this<\/p>\n<p>purpose, petitioner has submitted Ext.P3 representation.                     Though<\/p>\n<p>earlier any such correction required a declaration by a court of<\/p>\n<p>competent jurisdiction, the said procedure is now dispensed with as<\/p>\n<p>is evidenced by Circular dated 18.04.01 referred to by the petitioner.<\/p>\n<p>Petitioner also      refers to another Circular dated 29.10.07 which<\/p>\n<p>contemplates that the concerned passport officer can effect<\/p>\n<p>correction in the matter of place of birth, date of birth and such other<\/p>\n<p>related matters.         I have considered a similar case and issued<\/p>\n<p>directions in this regard, vide Ext.P7 judgment.<\/p>\n<p>      2.     I heard learned Senior counsel for the petitioner<\/p>\n<p>Mr.C.C.Thomas and learned Central Government Standing Counsel<\/p>\n<p>for the respondents.\n<\/p>\n<p>W.P.(C)No. 32770 OF 2008<br \/>\n<span class=\"hidden_text\">                                   -:2:-<\/span><\/p>\n<p>      3. In the result, this Writ Petition is disposed of directing the 2nd<\/p>\n<p>respondent to consider Ext.P3 and pass orders thereon in the matter<\/p>\n<p>of correction of place of birth of the petitioner as entered in his<\/p>\n<p>passport without further delay, at any rate, within six weeks from the<\/p>\n<p>date of receipt of a copy of this judgment. Since the petitioner is<\/p>\n<p>working in Manipal, it will be appropriate that notice be given by the<\/p>\n<p>2nd respondent requiring the petitioner to be present on a particular<\/p>\n<p>day. Petitioner shall present himself on the said date as intimated by<\/p>\n<p>the 2nd respondent. The above process will be completed within six<\/p>\n<p>weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this judgment. Petitioner<\/p>\n<p>shall produce a copy of the Writ Petition along with a copy of this<\/p>\n<p>judgment before the 2nd respondent.\n<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>                                                       (V.
