This petition seeks quashing of proceedings initiated<\/p>\n<p>under the provisions of the Punjab Village Common Lands<\/p>\n<p>(Regulation) Act, 1961, for eviction of the petitioner.      The<\/p>\n<p>Panchayat filed application claiming ownership of the land in<\/p>\n<p>dispute.\n<\/p>\n<p>2.          Learned counsel for the writ petitioners submits that<\/p>\n<p>during the pendency of the writ petition, an amendment has<\/p>\n<p>been made vide Punjab Village Common Lands(Regulation)<\/p>\n<p>Haryana Amendment Act,1996. He also relies upon judgment of<\/p>\n<p>this Court in <a href=\"\/doc\/102352968\/\">Puran v. State of Punjab<\/a> 1997(3) RCR 187<\/p>\n<p>dealing with the effect of amendment.\n<\/p>\n<p>3.          None appears for the contesting respondents.<br \/>\n<span class=\"hidden_text\"> CWP No.2010 of 1989                                           2<\/span><\/p>\n<p>4.         I am of the opinion that the issue can be considered<\/p>\n<p>by the statutory authorities in the first instance and there is no<\/p>\n<p>reason to preempt adjudication by the said authorities.<\/p>\n<p>5.
