JOSEPH, J.\n                       - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -\n                               W.P.(C) No.8454 of 2008\n                       - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -\n                       Dated this the 26th day of March, 2008.\n\n                                          JUDGMENT\n<\/pre>\n<p id=\"p_1\">H.L.DATTU, CJ,<\/p>\n<p>                Petitioner seeks disciplinary action against the first respondent. In<\/p>\n<p>the writ petition several allegations are made by the petitioner not only against the<\/p>\n<p>first respondent, but also the higher-ups in the police department. It is stated that<\/p>\n<p>the higher-ups in the police department are trying to shelter the first respondent.<\/p>\n<p>Therefore, a request is made in the writ petition to issue appropriate direction to<\/p>\n<p>the respondents to initiate appropriate disciplinary proceedings against the first<\/p>\n<p>respondent and complete those proceedings as expeditiously as possible.<\/p>\n<p id=\"p_1\">                2. When the matter was posted before the court for admission, we<\/p>\n<p>had directed Sri.M.P.Sreekrishnan, the learned Government Pleader to get<\/p>\n<p>appropriate instructions in the matter.\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"p_2\">                3.   On instrucitions, Sri.M.P.Sreekrishnan, learned Government<\/p>\n<p>Pleader, would submit that the respondents have already initiated appropriate<\/p>\n<p>disciplinary proceedings against the first respondent by appointing an Inquiry<\/p>\n<p>Officer to inquire into the allegations made against the first respondent. Further,<\/p>\n<p>the learned Government Pleader would submit that the respondents will complete<\/p>\n<p>the inquiry within four months from today.\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"p_3\">                4. Placing on record the statement made by Sri.M.P.Sreekrishnan,<\/p>\n<p>learned Government Pleader, this writ petition is disposed of as under:<\/p>\n<p id=\"p_4\">                                           Order<\/p>\n<p id=\"p_5\">                i) The undertaking of Sri.M.P.Sreekrishnan, learned Government<\/p>\n<p>Pleader, is placed on record.\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"p_6\"><span class=\"hidden_text\" id=\"span_1\">WPC.8454\/2008.                               2<\/span><\/p>\n<p id=\"p_7\">               ii) The Inquiry Officer shall complete the inquiry proceedings initiated<\/p>\n<p>against the first respondent as expeditiously as possible, at any rate within four months<\/p>\n<p>from today.\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"p_8\">               iii) If for any reason the disciplinary authority is not in a position to<\/p>\n<p>complete the inquiry as undertaken by the learned Government Pleader, they are at<\/p>\n<p>liberty to approach this court for extension of time on genuine grounds.<\/p>\n<p id=\"p_9\">               Ordered accordingly.\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"p_10\">\n<p id=\"p_11\">                                                              H.L.
