OBSERVATIONS\u00a0 BY\u00a0 THE SPEAKER <\/p>\n<p>\u00a0  <\/p>\n<p><a class=\"marker_ref\" href=\"\/search\/?formInput=Re\" id=\"a_1\">Re <\/a>: Business transacted during previous week  <\/p>\n<p>MR. SPEAKER: Hon. Members, for your information, I want to briefly recapitulate the business transacted by the House during the previous week, that is, from 25th to 29th April, 2005.\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"p_2\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Out of 100 Starred Questions admitted, 18 were answered orally. Replies to the remaining Starred Questions, along with the replies to 1,016 Unstarred Questions, were laid on the Table. Hon. Members raised 51 matters under rule 377. Besides 45 matters of urgent public importance were raised after the Question Hour.\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"p_3\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The House devoted over 14 hours on the transaction of important financial business relating to the Discussion and Voting on the Demands for Grants for 2005-2006 under the control of the Ministries of Agriculture, Rural Development, Home Affairs, and Science and Technology. The House also passed all the outstanding Demands in respect of the Budget General for 2005-2006. During the previous week, the House also debated the Finance Bill, 2005 for five hours and six minutes.\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"p_4\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Two Private Members\u2019 Bills were introduced. One Private Member\u2019s Bill, namely, the Compulsory Voting Bill, 2004, by Shri Bachi Singh Rawat, was negatived by the House. Another Private Member\u2019s Bill, namely, the Regional Rural Banks (Amendment) Bill, 2004, by Shri Basu Deb Acharia, remained part discussed.\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"p_5\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Departmentally-related Standing Committees presented 34 Reports to the House.\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"p_6\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Hon. Members, we lost six hours of valuable time due to interruptions and forced adjournments during the week.
