Its position among the languages is threatened now. It is unfortunate that the Standing Committee on Home Affairs had to say:\n<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;\u2026many of the languages such as Bhojpuri, Maithili, Angika, Magahi, Santhali demanding inclusion in the Eighth Schedule are now under the umbrella of Hindi language. Individual recognised status to these languages by inclusion in the Eighth Schedule may compromise the primacy accorded to Hindi by the Constitution as the language of the largest group of Indians.&#8221;\n<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0MR.
