KHARVENTHAN <\/a>(<a class=\"marker_ref\" href=\"\/search\/?formInput=PALANI\">PALANI<\/a>): Hon. Chairman, Sir, Tamil has been declared as one of the classical languages by the Government of India, but till date it has not been given due recognition by the Union Government. There is a long-pending demand for conducting the deliberations of Madras High Court and Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court in Tamil. However, the genuine demand of the State is not being given proper heed. Whereas in other States like Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, U.P., and Rajasthan, the deliberations of the High Courts concerned are being conducted in the regional language, that is, Hindi.\n<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Hence, I urge upon the Union Government that the discrimination meted out to the Tamil people should be removed and proceedings of the Madras High Court and Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court should be allowed to be conducted in Tamil as in the case of some of the Northern States.\n<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 I would request the Government to take necessary steps to implement Tamil as the language of the Madras High Court and Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court.\n<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"marker_ref\" href=\"\/search\/?formInput=MR.%20CHAIRMAN\">MR. CHAIRMAN<\/a>: Do you not want to change the name of the Court? Now, it is \u2018Madras High Court\u2019. Do you not want to change the name to \u2018Chennai High Court\u2019? You only want that the proceedings should be conducted in Tamil. What about the name?\n<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"marker_ref\" href=\"\/search\/?formInput=SHRI%20S.K.%20KHARVENTHAN%20\">SHRI S.K. KHARVENTHAN <\/a>: Thank you, Sir.\n<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"marker_ref\" href=\"\/search\/?formInput=MR.%20CHAIRMAN\">MR. CHAIRMAN<\/a>: It is still Madras High Court.
