DENESAN, J.\n\n\n\n                = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =\n\n                  W.P.(C) No. 254 OF 2007 E\n\n                = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =\n\n\n\n               Dated this the 3rd January, 2007\n\n\n\n                         J U D G M E N T\n<\/pre>\n<p>     The   petitioners   belong   to   the   category   of   Meter<\/p>\n<p>Readers   in   the   Kerala   State   Electricity   Board.     It   is<\/p>\n<p>contended that they possess the qualification of degree<\/p>\n<p>in   Electrical   Engineering   and   are   qualified   to   be<\/p>\n<p>appointed as Assistant Engineers.  It is pointed out in<\/p>\n<p>Exts.   P1   and   P2   representations   filed   by   the<\/p>\n<p>petitioners   1   and   2   before   the   Chief   Engineer   that<\/p>\n<p>vacancies   in   the   post   of   Asst.   Engineer   are   being<\/p>\n<p>filled   up   by   appointing   temporary   hands   from   outside<\/p>\n<p>and   under   such   circumstances   the   Board   should   consider<\/p>\n<p>the claim of the petitioners for promotion to the post<\/p>\n<p>of Asst. Engineer.  Though the petitioners will have to<\/p>\n<p>undergo   the   process   of   selection   to   get   regular<\/p>\n<p>appointment   as   Asst.   Engineers,   the   respondents   can<\/p>\n<p>consider their case for appointment on temporary basis,<\/p>\n<p>in   case   the   posts   are   filled   up   temporarily   by<\/p>\n<p>candidates   from     outside.         On   the   above   ground   the<\/p>\n<p>petitioners 1 and 2 have filed Exts. P1 and P2.\n<\/p>\n<p>     2.   Counsel   for   the   petitioners   submits   that   the<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"hidden_text\">WPC No. 254\/2007                   -2-<\/span><\/p>\n<p>petitioners   3   and   4   also   have   filed   similar<\/p>\n<p>representations   and   those   representations   also   may   be<\/p>\n<p>directed to be considered.\n<\/p>\n<p>        3.   Legal   Liaison   Officer   for   the   respondent-Board<\/p>\n<p>submits   that   the   request   made   by   the   petitioners   will<\/p>\n<p>be considered and appropriate decision will be taken.\n<\/p>\n<p>        4.   Accordingly,   the   writ   petition   is   disposed   of<\/p>\n<p>directing the 2nd  respondent to pass orders on Exts. P1<\/p>\n<p>and   P2   as   also   the   representations   said   to   have   been<\/p>\n<p>filed   by   the   petitioners   3   and   4   as   expeditiously   as<\/p>\n<p>possible.     Time   for   compliance   is   six   weeks   on   the<\/p>\n<p>petitioners producing a copy of the judgment before the<\/p>\n<p>2nd respondent.\n<\/p>\n<p>                                                   K.K.
