No.520 of 2011\n                    -------------------------------\n           Dated this the 8th day of February, 2011\n\n                          J U D G M E N T\n<\/pre>\n<p>            The petitioners are the claimants in O.P.(M.V.) No.1310 of<\/p>\n<p>1993 on the file of the Motor Accidents Claims Tribunal, Attingal. By<\/p>\n<p>Award passed on 17.11.2001, the Motor Accidents Claims Tribunal<\/p>\n<p>awarded the sum of Rs.1,62,800\/-          with interest and costs as<\/p>\n<p>compensation to the petitioners.     It is stated that pursuant to the<\/p>\n<p>steps taken by the petitioners to execute the Award, the Kerala State<\/p>\n<p>Road Transport Corporation has deposited a sum of Rs.3,90,873\/-<\/p>\n<p>before the Tribunal.   The grievance voiced by the petitioners is that<\/p>\n<p>though they have filed applications for payment in terms of the Award<\/p>\n<p>by issuance of a cheque, as the Presiding Officer of the Motor<\/p>\n<p>Accidents Claims Tribunal, Attingal is not sitting, orders have not been<\/p>\n<p>passed on their applications for payment.       In this writ petition, the<\/p>\n<p>petitioners seeks a direction to the Motor Accidents Claims Tribunal,<\/p>\n<p>Attingal to expeditiously dispose of their applications for payment in<\/p>\n<p>terms of the award.\n<\/p>\n<p>            2.   When this writ petition came up for admission<\/p>\n<p>yesterday, the Registry was directed to ascertain and verify the<\/p>\n<p>statement of the petitioners that the Presiding Officer of Motor<\/p>\n<p>O.P (MAC) No.520 of 2011<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"hidden_text\">                                     2<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Accidents Claims Tribunal, Attingal is on long leave and is not sitting.<\/p>\n<p>The Registry has verified and reported that as the Presiding Officer of<\/p>\n<p>Motor Accidents Claims Tribunal, Attingal is not well and is on long<\/p>\n<p>leave, the Motor Accidents Claims Tribunal, Thiruvananthapuram has<\/p>\n<p>been directed to hold full additional charge of Motor Accidents Claims<\/p>\n<p>Tribunal, Attingal.\n<\/p>\n<p>              In such circumstances, I dispose of the writ petition with a<\/p>\n<p>direction to the Motor Accidents Claims Tribunal, Attingal to take up<\/p>\n<p>the applications filed by the petitioners in O.P.(M.V.) No.1310 of 1993<\/p>\n<p>for payment of the amount of compensation and pass orders thereon<\/p>\n<p>expeditiously and in any event within one month from today.<\/p>\n<p>                                              P.N.
